Dr. Blondina Marpaung is an internist rheumatologist, Chief of Rheumatology Division, Department of Internal Medicine, Medical Faculty, Sumatera Utara University in Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia.
After completing her medical education at Faculty of Medicine, Sumatera Utara University in 1988, she worked at public health center in Medan, North Sumatera for 5 years. She continued her study in Department of Internal Medicine at Sumatera Utara University from 1995 - 2000. Then, she continued her education to become an Rheumatologist at the Departement of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Jakarta, from 2003 - 2004. In 2010 she has completed her doctoral program at Faculty of Medicine, Sumatera Utara University. She has also been a lecturer in the Rheumatology Division, Faculty of Medicine, Sumatera Utara University since 2000 until now. She became chairman of the Indonesian Rheumatology Association in Medan, North Sumatera, Indonesia and she was active and involved in many symposiums both national and international conferences .
She has been contributed to clinical practice and many clinical and translational research on rheumatic diseases. Her major research interests are pathogenesis, diagnosis, therapeutic research and clinical studies/trials for autoimmune diseases including gout arthritis, osteoarthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus.
She has published original articles especially for autoimmune diseases.
