I Nyoman Suarjana is a Rheumatologist and Head of Rheumatology Division in Departement of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Lambung Mangkurat University/RSUD Ulin, Banjarmasin, South Borneo. He received his Medical Degree at Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Denpasar, Bali in 1992. He continued his medical education as a resident of Internal Medicine in Gadjah Mada University and graduated as internist in 2002. He served as an internist at Hassan Basry General Hospital, Kandangan, Hulu Sungai Selatan, South Borneo from 2002 until 2006. He received Fellow of Indonesian Society of Internal Medicine (FINASIM) in 2012. He continued rheumatology training and received rheumatology consultant from Faculty of Medicine, Indonesia University Jakarta in 2009 and completed doctoral degree from the same university in 2018.
His clinical and research interest are in rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases. His previous research was correlation between leptin serum level with disease activity in SLE premenopausal woman with normal body mass index and his recent research was the role mRNA-21 in bone mineral density in hypoestrogenic postmenopausal woman with osteoporosis.
He is an active member of Indonesian Medical Asscosiation (IDI), Indonesian Medical Association of Internal Medicine (PAPDI), Indonesian Rheumatology Association (IRA) and Indonesian Osteoporosis Asscosiation (PEROSI). He also contributed in local autoimmune disease society (ISAKA) as an educator and advisor.
